ACEOs.... a what? I've written about these little format originals paintings in my blog,
http://pineshorestudio.blogspot.com,in the past. Their increasing popularity causes me to bring them to your attention again. There has been quite a growing movement in the creation and sales of this unique art collection. I've recently seen a number of art exhibits devoted exclusively to these little gems.
You know it has become popular with artists when supply catalogs devote space to selling the basic product and accessories. Here is a brief description from the label of a Strathmore product:
"In 1997, M.Vanci Stirnemann, a Swiss artist, created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. ..."
That's recognized as the start of what is now known as Artist Trading Cards ( ATC) .The ACEO is different only in that it represents the cards that are sold instead of traded. The only official requirement for an ACEO is the size: 2.5" by 3.5"
I have been successful in selling this format from my
Etsy shop.

As always my paintings are OOAK: one of a kind and all are created using my signature textures of rice papers, bark papers and papyrus. They are signed and dated on the back and packaged in their own acetate envelope. They can be collected, matted ,or framed singly or in groupings.
In fact, I'm about to reformat this shop exclusively for my ACEO paintings.
In today's economy, this "pocket " art collection is affordable, entertaining and gaining as an investment.
I invite you to visit my Etsy shop as I make this transition, adding newer ACEO work that can be easily purchased from that site: http://PineShoreStudio.etsy.com.
